In an apparently concerted effort to continue The Trailer Park Legend, Britney Spears just can't seem to get the knack of this motherhood thing, at least in public.
According to a report in Us Weekly, the pregnant-again Pop-Tart did a bit more than just pick up a few dainty things at the Mission Viejo Victoria's Secret in California.
The report says the Toxic performer got down on the floor right by the cash register and changed 9-month-old Sean Preston's dirty diaper. To make matters worse:
"Britney then tried to hand it to an employee," a source reportedly said. "The salesperson wouldn't take it."
The only thing good about this story is that diaper probably made its way to the garbage somehow, saving us all the possibility of yet another bizarro eBay auction.
I guess that's just how they do things where Britters is from.

Britney Spears has told NBC's Matt Lauer that she will move to Namibia "in the near future" to prepare for the birth of her second child, a daughter who is due in "late September or early November." Breaking down in tears during the interview, which will be broadcast Thursday on the Today show and Friday on Dateline, Ms. Spears said she is "an emotional wreck" right now. She blames the paparazzi and the false tabloids for her fragile state of mind.
During the wide ranging interview, Ms. Spears denied rumors that her husband of twenty-one months, Kevin Federline, is living in their basement. She also said repeatedly that she is a "good mom," despite the fact that she was photographed driving her SUV with her son, Sean Preston, sitting on her lap.
"I did it with my dad," said Ms. Spears. "I'd sit on his lap and I'd drive. We're country."
For some reason, perhaps he was having a Tom Cruise flashback, Mr. Lauer neglected to mention that at the time the incident had occurred, last February, Ms. Spears had said her son was on her lap because she was trying to escape the paparazzi and didn't have time to buckle him in his seat.
Mr. Lauer did ask Ms. Spears why she had chosen Namibia for the birth of her child.
"Kevin has always been a fan of African-American culture," she replied. "I'm sure he'll feel at home there, rapping with all the natives. Besides, there's lots of quiet unpaved roads where Sean Preston and I can go driving."
Ms. Spears also said that Namibia reminds her of California "because it's on the ocean and there's lots of sand. So if Sean Preston fell off his swing and landed on his head, there's less chance he would be hurt and we'd have those snoops from child welfare up our butts all the time."
Finally, said Ms. Spears, "I heard that Namibia has laws that let celebrities say whether or not journalists are allowed in the country. That's so important, even more important than getting the same villa that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had."
In other news, an autopsy conducted at the request of the U.S. military revealed that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi had been dead "at least five minutes" before "a few overenthusiastic soldiers" began stomping on his chest and taunting him. (source:pugbus.com)

NEW YORK (June 12) - Britney Spears says her marriage to Kevin Federline is "awesome," and scrutiny from the paparazzi has made her an "emotional wreck." Opening up in an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer to be aired Thursday on the "Today" show and "Dateline," the 24-year-old singer says it is not true that Federline is living in the basement, as some media have reported.
Spears insisted that she loves her husband.
"He helps me. He has to. I'm (an) emotional wreck right now," she said.
The paparazzi have "crossed the line a little bit" by showing her in private moments, she said. She also defended her parenting skills, saying, "I know I'm a good mom."
She drew criticism earlier this year when she was photographed with her infant son, Sean, sitting on her lap as she drove. She cautions against judging her.
"I did it with my dad. I'd sit on his lap and I drive," the Louisiana native said. "We're country."
The singer said she feels like a target. Asked what she would say to the paparazzi as individuals, she says: "You have a life. And if you don't, you have to realize that we're people and that we ... just need privacy and we need our respect. And those are things that you have to have as a human being."
Federline and Spears married in the fall of 2004, and their son, Sean Preston, was born last September. She revealed last month that she is pregnant again.
Federline also has two children, Kori and Kaleb, with his former girlfriend, Shar Jackson.

Singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette and her fiancé for the past two years, actor Ryan Reynolds, have split, a source close to the couple confirms to PEOPLE.

Morissette, 32, and Reynolds, 29, first met at Drew Barrymore's birthday party in 2002 and dated for two years before becoming engaged in 2004.

In June 2005, Morissette told PEOPLE.com of her fiancé, "He's just such a supportive creature. I feel so loved by him, in a trampoline kind of way. He's always very happy for me."

She credited the success of their relationship in part to the fact that they're both Canadian. "We already started off with the shorthand, so I think it's a really great base. I attempted dating many American men. I tried!"

No wedding date was ever announced. "We're just really enjoying this (engagement) phase," Morissette told PEOPLE.com last year. Said Reynolds, "We feel like we're already married." Reps for Morissette and Reynolds could not be reached for comment.

Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz have decided to spend time apart, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

The couple "have decided to take time off as a couple. Due to busy work schedules and so much time apart, they mutually decided four weeks ago that separating was the best thing to do at this time," according to a joint statement from the couple to PEOPLE.

"They're very good friends, but they haven't been able to be together," a source close to Cruz tells PEOPLE. "Who knows what the future holds."

Cruz, 32, is currently in Spain filming Manolete, a drama about the legendary Spanish bullfighter, costarring Adrien Brody. Meanwhile, McConaughey, 36, is in the U.S. shooting We Are Marshall, about former Marshall University football coach Jack Lengyel.

"(Penelope) said it has been too hard to have a relationship when you see the other person every six weeks," adds the source. The couple last saw each other in March when McConaughey visited Cruz on location in Spain.

McConaughey, PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive, and Cruz have been dating for more than a year. They met while filming last year's Sahara.

'Angie & Baby Are Fantastic'

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have welcomed a baby girl, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, a rep for the couple confirmed Saturday in a statement to PEOPLE. "Angie and baby are fantastic," a source close to the couple told PEOPLE on Sunday. "Brad was at her side during the birth."

The child was born Saturday, May 27, at night, in the African country of Namibia. Shiloh – which in one longstanding translation from the Bible has come to mean "the peaceful one" – was born in The Cottage Hospital in Swakopmund. Jolie is expected to remain in the hospital for a couple days before returning to the couple's sea-side Namibian retreat.

Meanwhile, Namibia's Environment and Tourism Deputy Minister, Leon Jooste, explained: "Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt will, according to Namibian law, be allowed to obtain Namibian citizenship, if the parents should choose to do so." He added that discussion of the child's passport will be taken up with her parents "at a later stage."

Back in the U.S., the manager for Jolie's estranged father, Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, 67, told New York's Daily News that Voight is "really excited for them both. He can't wait to hold the baby in his arms and be grandpa."

The new parents, along with kids Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1, have been staying at the luxury resort in Namibia since April, where their personal security team and Namibian police have shielded them from paparazzi. Last week, the Namibian government said foreign journalists wishing to cover the birth must have written permission from Pitt and Jolie to enter the country and obtain a work permit.

The new girl is the couple's first biological child. Jolie adopted Maddox from Cambodia in 2002 and Zahara from Ethiopia last year. Pitt is in the process of legally adopting both children. On Wednesday, Paul McCartney and Heather Mills announced they were separating after nearly four years of marriage.
And now, with a mind-blowing amount of money at stake, there is even more fallout from the split.
In fact, there is so much money at stake, it's enough to make this the biggest divorce ever to hit a British court.
"In the United Kingdom, people can have pre-nuptial agreements, but the courts aren't bound to honor them," divorce lawyer Alton Abramowitz told Access Hollywood.
So what is at stake here?
Sir Paul is worth an estimated $1.5 billion, but British family lawyer Alan Kaufman said the length of the marriage is also important.
"The fact that it's a very short marriage, that makes a very big impact," Kaufman explained.
They were married just four years, but in that time, Paul has made an estimated $200 million. As far as real estate, Paul owns a home in London; one in East Sussex, Scotland; and at least two in the U.S. – with one in Tucson, Arizona and one in East Hampton, New York.
"The courts seem to really reallocate assets in England much more generously than in the United States," Abramowitz added. "Two hundred to three hundred million dollars might be in the picture."
Others speculate Heather could walk away with more – as much as $376 million. That's 25% of Paul's' fortune (or $1.8 million for every week they were married).
And as for custody of their two-and-a-half year old daughter Beatrice Milly?
"I doubt there will be a fight there," Abramowitz said. "More often than not, judges favor mothers because judges were raised by their mothers."

Maddox and Zahara Jolie-Pitt's new sibling will be born in Namibia. He or she may be given a Namibian name. There may or may not be lions keeping the paparazzi at bay during the birth.
That's the latest word coming out of the remote African nation where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have touched down to await the arrival of their much anticipated offspring.
Samuel Sheefeni Nuuyoma, the governor of the Namibian province where the Pitt-Jolie clan is reportedly holed up at a seaside resort, said the couple confirmed to him that the baby will be born in Namibia.
"They are having the baby here, and they talked about giving the child a Namibian name," Nuuyoma told the Sunday Times of South Africa.
Nuuyoma apparently got the inside scoop from the couple when he had breakfast with them on Friday. He said that Jolie made the decision to give birth in his country because "she loves Namibia." The actress spent several weeks in the country in 2002 while filming Beyond Borders.
Since arriving in Namibia a couple of weeks ago, the family has reportedly visited several remote game preserves, where they were said to be taking advantage of wild lions allowed to roam free on the property to keep prying photographers away.
Apart from the feline detail, the Mr. and Mrs. Smith costars are also under the protection of a team of human bodyguards, who haven't won many friends among the band of reporters attempting to cover the expectant couple.
The Sunday Times carried a picture of one bodyguard purportedly pepper spraying a paparazzo who dared come too close and claimed that members of the security team have issued threats to other reporters.
The Namibian government has chimed in on protecting the couple's privacy, warning journalists entering the country without valid work permits that they could be arrested.
Meanwhile, residents of the area are said to be irritated by the measures taken by the bodyguards to shield their high-profile clients.
"They're out of control. It's a public beach and yet they carry on as if they own it," one man told the Sunday Times. "They really don't have to be so aggressive. They can't just go around threatening people. I sympathize with Brad and Angelina because they do want privacy, but on the other hand they are public figures and there is a lot of interest in their visit."
Nuuyoma said the couple was adamant that they were on a family vacation and did not want to be photographed. He said he wanted Jolie and Pitt to feel "at home and free" on their travels.
"Namibia is a country where everyone has the right to freedom of movement, and they must not feel inhibited when they visit this beautiful country of ours," he told the Sunday Times.
Before jetting to Namibia, the couple stopped in Paris where they shopped for a variety of baby clothes that seemed to indicate they were expecting a girl.
"We think it's a girl, but we're not 100 percent certain," Jolie was reportedly overheard saying during the shopping spree. Just in case, the actress also picked up a gray T-shirt bearing the word "boy."
Published reports have claimed Jolie is due on May 18. Pitt's rep, Cindy Guagenti, confirmed the pregnancy on Jan. 11.
The child will be the first biological offspring for both Jolie and Pitt. Jolie adopted four-year-old Maddox from Cambodia in 2002, and one-year-old Zahara from Ethiopia last year.
Pitt has since announced his intent to become the children's adoptive father. The couple's motion to change the kids' surname to Jolie-Pitt was granted in January.

NEW YORK (AP) - David Blaine was unconscious and having convulsions when he was rescued from his 2.4-metre aquarium during a breath-holding stunt, his trainer said Tuesday.

'I wasn't focused on records; I was thinking of a rescue,' said trainer Kirk Krack, a free-diving expert. Blaine was convulsing and 'unconscious when we brought him to the surface. If we hadn't intervened, he would still be at the bottom of the sphere doing a breath-hold.'

The 33-year-old illusionist had been submerged in the aquarium with an oxygen mask for a week. Rescue divers jumped into the 7,500-litre saltwater tank Monday night and hauled him up.

He was rescued as he struggled to break a breath-holding record of eight minutes, 58 seconds. Blaine, who had spent some 177 hours underwater, went without air for seven minutes, eight seconds as a finale to his endurance stunt at Lincoln Center, which was televised live on ABC.

Blaine checked himself out of Roosevelt Hospital on Tuesday. Friends took him out of the hospital in a wheelchair and then helped him walk to a waiting car.

At home, he took a hot shower, played cards and was able to eat.

But "he was crying" Monday night, said Dr. Murat Gunel, the head of Blaine's medical team. "He still feels today that he let people down."

Blaine's liver and kidney functions had suffered while he was submerged but are now improving. His skin, which was peeling Monday night, "looks much better today," said Gunel.

His team concluded that strenuous training and losing 50 pounds so his body would require less oxygen left Blaine too tired before he entered the sphere.

They said Blaine wants to try the breath-holding stunt again. Next time, he plans to be in better shape, and do it without being in a tank for a week beforehand.

"He is going over everything he did and analyzing what happened," said Gunel, associate professor of neurosurgery at Yale University School of Medicine. "He is remarkably strong."

"I think he was a great success," said Krack, adding there are only a handful of people who can hold their breath for more than four minutes with training.

Blaine started training in December, with some help from Navy SEALS. The water temperature was regulated to help keep his core temperature near 37 C, and he ate and relieved himself through tubes.

His previous feats included balancing on a 55-centimetre circular platform atop a 30-metre pole for 35 hours, being buried alive in a see-through coffin for a week and surviving inside a massive block of ice for 61 hours, all of which were performed in New York. In 2003, he fasted for 44 days in a suspended acrylic box over the Thames River in London.

"It all could have been done so different," Eustace tells Toronto's Globe & Mail newspaper. "Right from the beginning, it was all about them. I confronted him once and said, 'Do you know how (all this publicity) makes me and my family feel? Do not do this.' He was like, 'I did not even look at it that way.'"

Particularly upsetting to Eustace was the new groom's comment to PEOPLE at his wedding last weekend. He said: "I've never had as much of a desire to get married and make a woman my wife as I've had with her. The feeling is overwhelming. We're soul mates." Eustace considers the remark to be "the final nail."

Spelling, 32, and McDermott, 39, met last summer in Ottawa while filming the TV movie Mind Over Murder. At the time, the former Beverly Hills 90210 star was wed to actor-writer Charlie Shanian, and McDermott was still with Eustace.

Eustace, referring to Brad Pitt's relationship with Angelina Jolie, which started shortly after his split from Jennifer Aniston, says: "I have a great deal of empathy for Jennifer Aniston. She said I'm not going to be defined by this situation and this relationship. If you allow yourself to reside in that place, you won't be able to function."

Eustace does say that McDermott did let her know that he and Spelling were getting married – once she inquired after the fact. "Logistically, because I had to take care of my son, I asked him point-blank. I didn't want any more surprises," says Eustace, adding that her ex advised her of his upcoming tropical wedding two weeks ahead of time.

Eustace now is taking any lingering resentment and putting together a memoir. "The past year was a nightmare, but it was also funny," she says. "I have to have a lot of humor about it. I have to embrace that side of it or I'd dis-empower myself."

When news of the book was first reported, Spelling and McDermott told the New York Post: "It's opportunistic and undignified that she would want to exploit her former marriage for monetary gain. We only wish her the very best."

As for the contents of the prospective book, Eustace says that among other things, she’ll write about "the meltdown I had at the driver's license bureau because I'd missed my appointment. I started to cry and told the guy my husband had left me for Tori Spelling. He let me take my test … So, see, it has an upside too."

The New York Post reports that Rosie O’Donnell would only agree to succeed out-going View cohost Meredith Vieira if Barbara Walters gave Jones the boot:

Matt Leinart celebrated being drafted into the NFL by partying at a Las Vegas nightclub on Tuesday with Paris Hilton. For the record, Leinart was joined at the club PURE by more than 200 of his closest friends, including Nick Lachey, Wilmer Valderrama and Danny Masterson – but he spent the better part of the evening with the newly single Hilton, a source tells PEOPLE.

On his way into the bash, the 22-year-old, 6'5", Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, who was recently drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, told PEOPLE, "After this, it's all business, all NFL."

Inside, he danced with Hilton, 25, on the club's VIP beds. She called him "baby" and rested her head on his back, sometimes holding his hand, says the source. The pair danced the night away – and at one point disappeared together behind closed doors in the club's private suite.

Later, Hilton treated the crowd to an impromptu concert, jumping on top of the DJ booth and belting out several songs from her upcoming album, including a rendition of Rod Stewart's "Do You Think I'm Sexy" – which she dedicated to Leinart.

When not on the dance floor, the pair nestled themselves into the corner of a VIP bed, where they kissed and hugged before leaving around 3:30 a.m.

Ashlee Simpson has learned to slow down and relax thanks to her beau, Braxton Olita – but says she's in no rush to marry young like her big sister, Jessica.

"I'm a lot more peaceful and chilled out," the singer tells Teen People of her life since she began dating Olita. "I honestly couldn't be more content."

Simpson, Teen People's June/July cover girl and one of its Hottest Stars Under 25, tells the magazine she was friends with Olita, the 20-year-old Hawaii native who plays guitar in her band, before their relationship turned romantic. "He's the yin to my yang; people call him my 'Little Buddha,' " she says. "When he comes around, everything changes. Braxton has taught me a lot."

Still, Simpson, 21, says she's not looking to follow in big sister Jessica's footsteps and get married at a young age. (Jessica was 21 when she tied the knot with Nick Lachey; they split last year.) "I've watched Jessica go through a really hard time. Marriage is definitely not on my mind," she says. "Sometimes things don't work out the way you thought they would. I'm absolutely in love and in a committed relationship, but we live day-to-day. Vince Vaughan Breaks His Silence on Jen

When it comes to discussing their relationship, neither Jennifer Aniston nor Vince Vaughn has been very forthcoming. Most questions put to them, in fact, are met with dead silence. Until now.

Taking a direct approach to get his guest to talk, David Letterman tells Vaughn on Friday night's Late Show, according to a preview obtained by the Associated Press: "Hey, nice going on that Jennifer Aniston thing." Slightly thrown off balance, Vaughn – who costars with Aniston in the upcoming The Break Up – recovers and responds: "It's very nice of you to say that, Dave, thank you. Yeah, it's been kind of interesting for me, and I just choose not to talk about my private life that much publicly."

Letterman then flat out asks if Vaughn and Aniston are a couple. Replies the comic actor: "I'm not saying we are or aren't a couple. I think she's great, but I just don't discuss whether we are." As the conversation develops, Vaughn, 36, turns to the audience and, referring to Letterman, announces: "Do you like the way he just kind of takes the approach that it's fact?"

Letterman fared much better than Today show reporter Jill Rappaport, who on April 4 was met with silence from Aniston when she inquired about Vaughn (in particular, whether Oprah Winfrey was really about to toss the couple an $8 million wedding, as had been rumored). This marked the first time in weeks that the globetrotting leading man – who'd been traveling solo – had his fiancée and mother of his 2-week-old daughter back at his side in public.

Pulling up to Grauman's Chinese Theater behind the wheel of a black sports car with Holmes in the passenger seat, Cruise said: "We are looking forward to seeing this. This is Katie's first night out since we had Suri."

A voluptuous-looking Holmes, already slimmed down since the last stages of her pregnancy, was wearing a loose-fitting black cocktail dress with white pumps as she clung to Cruise while he signed autographs and posed for photos.

Referring to her weight, Holmes told one fan, "I haven't lost that much yet." Still, insisted the admirer, Holmes looks amazing. "Thank you," she said. "I try to eat healthy."

Asked by PEOPLE how it felt to be making her first public appearance since giving birth, Holmes smiled and said: "Wonderful." And baby Suri? "Gorgeous!" she gushed. Holmes also said that "some very good friends" were taking care of the infant – while Cruise (wearing a black suit and sunglasses) took care of Holmes, making sure she was as much a part of his night as the fans.

As the festivities continued, someone in the crowd handed Cruise a homemade gift for Suri: four, three-inch pink knitted toy blocks, each with the letters "S," "U," "R," "I" knitted in white on the blocks. Paris & Stavros: Their Final Days

Paris Hilton and her boyfriend of seven months, Stavros Niarchos, confirmed on Tuesday that they were over. But the day before PEOPLE broke the news, Paris was spending time with someone else – football player Matt Leinart.

On May 1, Hilton, in a brunette wig, shopped at the Grove in Los Angeles with Leinart, 22, a 6'5" Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback recently drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.

That night, PEOPLE reports in its new issue, Hilton and Leinart were spotted together at L.A. club Shag. "They seemed really into each other," says one witness. "He was very touchy-feely."

Nicole Richie: 'I'm Too Thin'

Nicole Richie, whose rail-thin frame has been a source of much discussion in the media, is now joining the chorus of voices saying that she is too skinny. "I know I'm too thin right now, so I wouldn't want any young girl looking at me and saying, 'That's what I want to look like,' " Richie tells Vanity Fair in its June issue. "I do know that they will, which is another reason I really do need to do something about it. I'm not happy with the way I look right now."

Richie blames her severe weight loss on, in part, her December breakup with then-fiancé Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein. "I get really stressed out, and I do lose my appetite," she says. (She and AM have been spotted together again recently.)

In an effort to put on a few pounds, Richie says she forced herself to eat – particularly high-calorie foods like burritos – but eventually sought professional help. "I started seeing a nutritionist and a doctor. I was scared that it could be something more serious." She is also working with a psychiatrist and a personal trainer.

Her medical team characterizes Richie's weight as "in the realm of anorexia," the magazine reports. However, Dr. Jeffery Wilkins, vice-chair of the department of psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, points out, "Our evaluation could change at any time."

Wilkins adds, "We're all concerned, and she's concerned, but it's either going to improve or it won't. If it's not anorexia, she should be able to gain the weight. If it ends up being anorexia, we'll help her with that. I think she's willing to look this in the eye."

Still, Richie says she doesn't even know how much she weighs. "I get weighed once a week with my nutritionist, but I don’t ask. Numbers aren't going to mean anything to me."

Ultimately, Richie says her restless childhood, the divorce of her adoptive parents, Lionel and Brenda Richie, plus an adolescence spent partying and fighting drug addiction all contributed to her trouble with her weight. "I want to be able to take whatever comes to me and not physically break down every time hard things come my way, because hard things are always going to come my way," she says. "I'm really trying to make it so I have the proper tools to deal with life."

Richie, who is working on her first album and a follow-up to her novel The Truth About Diamonds, also sheds some light on the dissolution of her friendship with her Simple Life costar Paris Hilton: "We never had a fight. I just decided I didn’t want to be her friend anymore."

Although she's considered a style icon and media darling, Richie says she's still trying to figure things out for herself. "Part of the reason I don't really talk about being sober is that I don't want to feel the pressure of being a role model," she says. "I am learning so much about myself that for me to tell other people what to do in their lives is something I'm not really fit to do. I'm a work in progress. I'm not 'there' yet. I don't know if I'll ever be 'there.' "

April 18 is a day that will go down in irony – as even Brooke Shields is noting. Both Shields and Katie Holmes – the fiancée of Shields's one-time debating opponent Tom Cruise – not only had babies on that day two weeks ago, but the infants were delivered in the very same Los Angeles hospital. And they were both girls.

"You know, the irony is perfect," Shields, 40, tells TV's Access Hollywood. "The world works in an interesting way, but we (were) both pretty busy that day."

Asked if she might have had any confrontations with Cruise in the maternity ward, Shields replied: "No. God, no, and it's a gift having kids, you know, so it's a beautiful thing rather than anything else."

Shields gave birth to her daughter, Grier, while Cruise and Holmes welcomed their daughter, Suri. As for the location being the same, Shields says: "Yeah, rumor has it. Again, I was pretty distracted."

Last summer during a Today show interview, Cruise lashed out at Shields’s use of antidepressants to get over her postpartum depression. Shields wrote a memoir, Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression, in which she detailed her experience after the birth of daughter Rowan, who turns 3 this month, her first child with TV producer-husband Chris Henchy.

Hatcher was on Winfrey's show to promote her new memoir, Burnt Toast, which she says is "an expression that came out of my mouth when I was doing a Barbara Walters special. I was sort of explaining what I do, which is, you know, that I eat the burnt toast. I take what is last."

In the book, Hatcher discusses being a single mother and looking for a committed relationship. She also says that her marriage to her now ex-husband, actor Jon Tenney, was nearly sexless. She told Winfrey she could pinpoint the day they conceived their daughter, Emerson Rose, now 8, because "that was the only time we had sex that year."

Hatcher attributes some of the intimacy problems she's had with men to the abuse she suffered at the hands of her uncle, Richard Stone, as a child. Thanks to Hatcher's testimony, Stone is now serving 14 years for molesting another girl.

Today, Hatcher is ready for fulfilling relationship – in every way. "(I) really want to find somebody that I can trust and go deep with and (have) crazy wild sex," she told Winfrey. Hatcher also cleared the air about other rumors plaguing her: "No catfights on the (Desperate Housewives) set. I'm not anorexic. I don't make $285,000 an episode. I haven't renegotiated my contract. Jessica Simpson is said to be “devastated” by a recent tell-all interview that her ex, Nick Lachey, gave to a magazine about their relationship.

In the published interview Lachey said he still loved Jessica, felt "blindsided" and "sucker punched" by her decision to divorce and that she refused to try counseling. Jessica's reaction? "She was devastated, heartbroken," says an insider. "She didn’t think he would do that.”

Friends gathered at Simpson's house on the day the article came out to console her. And Lachey himself even called to check in. "He wanted her to hear it from him," says a Lachey friend. "He felt bad that she was upset. (But) Nick didn’t apologize, because the things he said (in the article) only demonstrate that he loves her."

Simpson sees it differently. "What really upset her was the timing," says the insider. "Nick waited until two weeks before for his album to debut (Lachey's CD, What's Left of Me, will be released May 9] to tell a reporter that he loved Jessica. That’s not cool." Furthermore, the insider adds, "he keeps saying, 'I'm sorry I couldn’t make her happy,’ but he is not choosing to say why."

For her part, Simpson chooses to remain tight-lipped. She was scheduled to be interviewed for a Vanity Fair cover story, but that has since been canceled after it became clear that she would have to talk about the divorce. “She will not take the low road,” says the insider. Instead she is throwing herself into recording her next album and launching a line of hair extensions. "Financially and businesswise, she’s hotter than she’s ever been," says the insider.

In fact, money may be a sticking point between the two. Soon after Jessica filed for divorce in December, Nick specified that he reserved the right to ask for spousal support, though the published interview says he denies he will ask for alimony. Another possible sore point, adds the insider: "The family thinks Nick is attacking everybody but himself." But his friends beg to differ. "Nick took responsibility for the split more than anyone else," says a friend.

While Jessica's father and manager, Joe, is sometimes mentioned as a force behind the breakup, the friend says, "Nick doesn't blame Joe. It's no one's fault. He doesn't blame Jessica." Still, the friend adds, "Nick never wanted this marriage to end. He would never want to hurt her."

Although American Idol host Ryan Seacrest often trades barbs with judge Simon Cowell, now the tension between him and another judge, Paula Abdul, has reached a boiling point.

"It's awkward. I don't know what the deal is. It's very awkward," Seacrest, 31, told PEOPLE on Friday, referring to his relationship with Abdul. Asked if he was speaking to Abdul, Seacrest answered: "No." S

In Seacrest's March 30 appearance, Leno said that Abdul had seemed "a little loopy" on a recent episode of Idol to which Seacrest replied, "Well, have you listened to her album?" Abdul, 43, had a chance to shoot back when she appeared on the show on April 10. Denise Richards and Richie Sambora have been getting cozy: The pair were spotted kissing in Southern California this weekend, PEOPLE reports.

On Saturday, Richards, 35, and Sambora, 46, the soon-to-be ex-husband of Heather Locklear, arrived at Le Café in the Westlake Village neighborhood outside Los Angeles at about 5 p.m. in separate cars. In the parking lot, the two kissed then walked hand-in-hand, smiling and chatting the entire way as they headed for the restaurant.

Inside, they shared a table in the covered patio where they gazed into each other's eyes and held hands across the table. Eventually, Richards planted a kiss on Sambora's hand – and he returned the gesture, kissing hers. They then kissed again on the lips.

On Friday, Richards filed a 17-page court document claiming that her estranged husband, Charlie Sheen, had threatened to kill her. Sheen has called Richards' claims "vile" and "baseless."

Richards originally filed for divorce in March of last year, when she was six months pregnant with the couple's daughter Lola. The pair appeared to briefly reconcile after Lola's birth in June, but on Jan. 4, they requested that their divorce proceed with a private arbitrator.

In February, Sambora – who's the guitarist for Bon Jovi – split from Locklear, his wife of 11 years. The couple have an 8-year-old daughter, Ava. Richards and Locklear are pals who grew even closer during Richards's split from Sheen. Locklear, who starred with Sheen in Spin City, attended Richards's baby shower before she gave birth to her daughter Lola – and helped take care of the baby after she was born.

Denise Richards has asked for a restraining order against Charlie Sheen and filed court papers alleging that her estranged husband abused her physically, threatened her life and has a habit of viewing gay and possibly-underage pornography online. TMZ.com reports:

In the documents, filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Richards alleges that Sheen pushed her, shoved her and threatened to kill her. Richards also claims in her declaration that Sheen made threats against her parents.

In his own declaration, Sheen denied making threats.

Richards says in her declaration that during their reconciliation last September, she discovered Sheen was visiting Web sites with “very young girls, who looked underage to me, with pigtails, braces, no pubic hair, performing oral sex with each other.”

Richards also claims in her 17-page declaration that Sheen accessed other Web sites “…involving gay pornography also involving very young men who also did not look like adults.”

The judge has granted Richards a restraining order and Sheen is not allowed to go within 300 feet of the actress and must have his visits monitored with daughters Sam, 2, and 10-month-old Lola.

According to TMZ, Sheen’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said, “For the last year Charlie Sheen has been hit with these ridiculous charges over and over and over again and has chosen to be a respectful gentleman and just respond with no comment.”

Sheen’s lawyer, Lance Spiegel, said, “Mr. Sheen strongly believes that it is in the best interests of his children to have frequent and substantial contact with each of their parents. His children are his priority and he intends to do everything possible to assure that he will continue to play a significant role in their lives. He regrets the necessity of the court’s involvement in this dispute but looks forward to establishing that he is a loving and committed father.”

Nick Lachey is now offering a more thorough peek inside his former marriage to Jessica Simpson than viewers were allowed to see on their Newlyweds reality series.

"Jessica and I began playing these parts even when we were by ourselves," he says of their roles. "It became a really blurred line. There was a question about what truly was our reality."

Lachey, 32, makes the comments to Rolling Stone in a new interview, excerpts of which were released to USA Today. Among Lachey's more startling revelations: "I'll tell you how I knew my marriage was over: I was told."

As for lingering doubts about his three-year-marriage, Lachey admits: "I don't know if there were other men. But if she did cheat, it was the result of something bigger, not the reason we didn't work. ... Sometimes I think it would be easier if I had just walked in the house and found her in bed with a guy. That would be clear-cut. End of story. I wouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of adultery."

Lachey also lifts the veil on his feelings about ex-father-in-law (and Jessica's manager) Joe Simpson. "I don't pretend to understand Joe," he says. "I don't know if he ever liked me. To this day I couldn't say. It was painful. Do I think Joe drove a rift between us? No. Was he an influence in our marriage? Absolutely."

In related news, the music publication also says that singer-songwriter Adam Green has a big new hit in Germany called "Jessica," described as an unflattering ditty about Nick's ex. Its lyrics reportedly mention her "fraudulent smile" and "injections of cortisone."

"I think he felt she was too young," he said. "The Simpson family are a tightknit group. I knew going in they would be there. I'm not sure I knew how extensive it was going to be.

As for the rumors that the whole split was orchestrated by Simpson's father, Lachey said he couldn't "speculate about what he did or why he did it or for what purpose. It would be easy for me to blame my divorce on him. That would be convenient. But at the end of the day, Jessica is a grown woman, and she made her own decision."

Still, Lachey said he and Simpson still speak on the phone every couple of days, despite the conversations being a "little awkward."

Jessica Sued Over Fashion Choices

As far as some of her business associates are concerned, Jessica Simpson is not exactly the employee of the month.

The "In This Skin" singer has been sued for $100 million by an apparel company that claims she failed to promote their product as promised, the Smoking Gun Website reports.

According to the complaint, filed in New York State Supreme Court by the Tarrant Apparel Group, Simpson inked a multimillion-dollar three-year licensing deal in December 2004 to launch a line of low-priced jeans and clothing.

Under the terms of the agreement, Simpson was supposed to be "actively involved" in promoting the garb, including wearing items from the line at "public events, shows and appearances" whenever "reasonably practicable."

However, it seems Simpson attended precious few events she deemed suitable for trotting out the affordable duds, leading the company to gripe that she "simply failed to provide the promised support."

The company contends the Dukes of Hazzard star even refused to be photographed wearing items from the JS by Jessica Simpson and Princy collections, and that when asked by the press to name her favorite brand of jeans at an event last year, she replied "True Religion," rather than "Princy."

Princy jeans, which are named after the nickname given to Simpson by her father, retail for around $60, while True Religion jeans can set the denim connoisseur back upwards of $350.

Tarrant claims Simpson's unwillingness to back the line crippled its marketing plan and caused it to lose valuable contracts with retailers.

According to its court documents, the company has already shelled out $2.2 million in licensing fees to the singer-actress and has agreed to another $6 million in guaranteed payments.

The ex-Newlyweds star, who's already balancing a jam-packed schedule, had not yet responded to the suit as of Friday.

Here's a refreshing news flash: A supermodel is making headlines for actually doing her job and not, say, misusing drugs or cell phones.

Kate Moss is continuing her comeback from last year's drug scandal by signing a reported $900,000 deal to star in an upcoming ad campaign for Calvin Klein, marking a return to the designer who first launched the waifish model's career nearly 14 years ago.

Moss, 32, will once again appear as the face of the high fashion brand, appearing on billboards and in magazines for a campaign launching this fall.

"Kate and the Calvin Klein brand have a long history together and it felt natural to reunite them for this new jeans campaign, which will inevitably reunite that spark and highlight the sexy, cool essence of both Kate and Calvin Klein," said the campaign's creative director, Fabien Baron.

The ads, which shoot in New York this week, will also feature the pretty mug of 23-year-old Jamie Dornan, one of the biz's top male models who, nonetheless, is best known as Keira Knightley's ex. (He'll also be seen fawning over Kirsten Dunst in Sofia Coppola's Marie-Antoinette this October.)

I feel like telling your story of abuse is the trendy thing to do in Hollywood these days. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't need to constantly be hearing about how celebs were abused. Depressing! Can't they just make romantic comedies instead?

Meredith Vieira: I Was Abused

Meredith Vieira, who is set to leave The View to replace Katie Couric on Today, was once in an abusive relationship, she reveals in the May issue of More.

"He would slap me and then make up, saying, 'I'll never do this again,' crying," Vieira, 52, says of a man she dated at the start of her career. "It escalated to the point where he actually threw me out of the apartment naked. I sat out all night in the stairwell, and the next morning he let me in."

Vieira says she began to plan her departure after that incident. "It took almost 12 months," she says. "I consider myself a pretty smart woman, and I got into this situation. … I can look back and go, 'Where was my respect for myself?' "

Years later, in an effort to educate the public about domestic violence, she made a TV documentary about the Framingham Eight – women who were jailed for killing their abusers.

Today, Vieira is happily married to her husband of nearly 20 years, journalist Richard Cohen. They have three children: Ben, 17, Gabe, 14, and Lily, 13. Cohen suffers from multiple sclerosis, and Vieira tells More they are coping with the illness together. When Cohen gives himself a nightly injection of interferon, "We pour a drink; we both watch the needle go in," she says. And they still play pool together. "Now, the man is legally blind, and he has trouble walking," she says. "He can't even see which one is the cue ball, which is the eight ball. And he beats me every time!"

Ali Landry Weds in Mexico

Actress Ali Landry married film director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde on Saturday in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, her rep confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE.

Landry, 32, wore a strapless, ivory Monique Lhuillier drop-waist wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline and full ball gown skirt. The dress was made of hand-sewn layers of organza, tulle and chiffon. In keeping with the Mexican setting, Landry wore a paprika feathered bolero after the ceremony.

"He is so beyond amazing," the Eve actress recently told Dolan Media Newswires of Monteverde. "When you dream of 'the guy' as a child, reading your fairy tales and thinking of Prince Charming, you think of all the things you want in a man. And he's everything I thought was possible. He's creative, passionate and would love to help change the world. I respect him so much."

Landry, 32, and Monteverde, who reportedly met at Bible study last year, got engaged over Memorial Day weekend in 2005, and Landry will appear in the 2006 film Bella, which Monteverde wrote, produced and directed.

This is the second wedding for Landry, who wed Saved by the Bell star Mario Lopez on April 24, 2004. The couple split in June after seven weeks of marriage. "I thought I had my life figured out and all of a sudden, the rug was ripped out from under me," Landry said of the breakup. "I feel blessed that God has given me a second chance at my life."

Michael Douglas is now saying he was misquoted by a magazine that said he made inflammatory remarks about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

"I don't know about Brad Pitt, leaving that beautiful wife to go hold orphans for Angelina," Douglas, referring to Jennifer Aniston, is quoted as saying in the current GQ magazine. "I mean, how long is that going to last?"

However Douglas says he never uttered those statements. Douglas tells TV's Extra: "It was a lengthy article … must've been 20 hours of tape recording, so I asked to hear the tape recording, and the reporter said, 'Well, I turned the tape recorder off.' And I said, 'Well you had it on for the whole time so I didn't say it.'"

Douglas, who is promoting his new movie The Sentinel, also says he dispatched a personal apology to Pitt and Jolie. "I consider him a good friend," Douglas says, "and she does wonderful work for the United Nations, which is what I'm also involved in ...There's just a lot of pressure on the print media and they get to kind of exploitative quotes to try to attract people for their circulation, so it was unfortunate."

I recently heard a pretty absurd rumor that is outrageous, even as it pertains to Tom Cruise. Here it is:

"Apparently, the new word on the street (cause we know Tom is sterile and thus the kid is not his) is that Katie got pregnant by Chris Klein. They broke up and Tom needed a cover (hence the relationship with him, and kid makes it perfect) and she's been pregnant longer than she said, and the baby was born a month ago. They have been hiding her/it, so that the timing works out when with they said it would be based on her relationship with Tom."

I would have dismissed this rumor entirely if not for the pictures we've seen of Katie recently, which looks like she's carrying a basketball, or maybe 4 children at once. Judge for yourself.

Cruise: Dad Abused Me

As Tom Cruise prepares to be a proud papa again, he has implied that there's one man he definitely will not be taking lessons in daddyhood from: his own father.

The War of the Worlds star says in the upcoming issue of Parade magazine that his father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III, who died in the mid-'80s of cancer, was abusive.

"He was a bully and a coward. He was the kind of person where, if something goes wrong, they kick you," Cruise said. "It was a great lesson in my life--how he'd lull you in, make you feel safe and then, bang!"

Even when he was a child he felt that his dad was someone to watch out for. "For me, it was like, 'There's something wrong with this guy. Don't trust him. Be careful around him.' There's that anxiety," Cruise divulged. His mother, Mary Lee, divorced his dad in 1974.

Cruise said he approached his father for a reconciliation (sometime between Risky Business and Top Gun), when Mapother was on his deathbed. "He would only meet me on the basis that I didn't ask him anything about the past," the 43-year-old actor said.

The estranged father and son reunited, but there was no closure to be had. "When I saw him in pain," Cruise reminisced, "I thought, 'Wow, what a lonely life.' He was in his late 40's. It was sad."

And although going to school was a chance to flee his unhappy home, the classroom offered little solace for a young Cruise either. Apparently no one realized that they were picking on the future "Tom Cruise" because, as a boy, he was harassed in the halls quite a bit.

"So many times the big bully comes up, pushes me," Cruise remembered. "Your heart's pounding, you sweat, and you feel like you're going to vomit…I don't like bullies."

Best-selling British author J.K. Rowling took a moment out from her work on the next Harry Potter book to launch a withering attack on rail-thin models on her Web site, the AFP news agency reports.

In a posting titled "For Girls Only, Probably…," Rowling tears into the subject of girls and weight after being inspired by a magazine model whose appearance led Rowling to conclude the girl was "either seriously ill or suffering from an eating disorder."

"(The model) can talk about eating absolutely loads, being terribly busy and having the world's fastest metabolism until her tongue drops off," Rowling wrote, "but her concave stomach, protruding ribs and stick-like arms tell a different story."

Rowling said she found an unwitting ally in the pop star Pink, whose new song "Stupid Girls" satirizes what Rowling calls "celebrities whose greatest achievement is un-chipped nail polish, whose only aspiration seems to be getting photographed in a different outfit nine times a day, whose only function in the world appears to be supporting the trade in overpriced handbags and rat-sized dogs."

The author said she was partly moved to write her critique because of her own daughters, ages 1 and 12, whom she doesn't want to grow up in a thin-obsessed world. "I'd rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny – a thousand things, before 'thin,'" she wrote.
